In 2009, an average American family experienced a hardship due to the economic downturn. Their income went to almost half which resulted in the inability to put food on the table and pay their mortgage.
Read this excerpt from one of numerous hardship letters written by the driven mom that refused to give up!
There really aren’t enough words to express how grateful we were to be given an opportunity to get back on track. We are hard working people with 3 young children. It was our intent from the moment we purchased our home in May 2006 to live here for the rest of our lives. In the first two years of owning our home, we even made additional payments each month to be applied towards the principal. The change in income we experienced in 2009 was devastating. We have since been trying our very best to make the necessary changes to stay in our home.
From the moment we made contact with XYZ Bank [bank name intentionally left out], we have been under the impression that we were going to get help. We were so elated to think that everything was going to be ok. It is frustrating to say the least that after all this time we receive a letter saying our only options are Short Sale or Deed in Lieu of Foreclosure. Please, please, please help us stay in our home. We are begging for your support and assistance to modify our mortgage to the terms discussed on that phone call December 14, 2009.
We’d also like to cite just a handful of the various websites, blogs and forums on which we have learned of this disturbing trend with XYZ Bank [bank name intentionally left out].
